Helping
Salt & Co. grow with purpose
A stronger brand, rooted in Northumberland
Salt & Co. began with Martha Gothorp’s love of jewellery and the Northumberland coastline. Our work together has helped turn that personal connection into a clear brand strategy, giving the business room to grow while protecting what makes it special.
Our relationship with Martha started around 2019 and continues today through ZERO FAFF, covering brand development, marketing strategy and graphic design. Over that time, Salt & Co.’s turnover has grown from around £20,000 to £280,000.
We worked with Martha to define what Salt & Co. stands for: thoughtful craftsmanship, a lasting connection to the coast and jewellery with a story behind it. These became the foundations for how the business presents itself, helping customers understand both the quality of the pieces and the meaning behind them.
That strategy gives the creative work a clear purpose. Through the visual identity, messaging and ongoing graphic design, we’ve helped Martha build a consistent, recognisable brand that reflects the care she puts into her jewellery. A brand that feels considered and special, while remaining warm, personal and approachable.
As Salt & Co. has grown, we’ve continued to help Martha think through marketing decisions and put ideas into practice. Having those foundations in place means the business can reach new customers and take on new opportunities without losing its character.
Today, Salt & Co. has a shop overlooking Amble Harbour, and Martha’s achievements include the 2024 FSB North East Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Her coastal roots remain central to the business, from the inspiration behind the collections to the setting of the shop itself.
Martha has built something she’s proud to put her name to. We’ve helped give it the brand and marketing support to grow.
“The team at ZERO FAFF have helped me put into words what Salt & Co. is about and make sure that comes across in how the business looks and feels. As we’ve grown, that’s given me much more confidence in our marketing. It still feels completely like my business, just a much clearer version of what I always wanted it to be.”
